Bible Class

I have been teaching my Bible class for three years now. Since my church is very small and working on growing, my class consists of students ranging from ages: 5-8. Something unique about my congregation is that we have an English speaking group upstairs and a Spanish speaking group downstairs. Although our services are separate, I decided to integrate the Spanish speaking children into my classroom so both English and ELL students can learn about he Bible together. Because of this and the age range, differentiation is an essential aspect of all my lessons!

In order to celebrate the Christmas holiday, I worked hard with my students for several months to put together a play called: The Birth of Jesus for their families and friends. The program consisted of a play of baby Jesus's birth and a short selection of songs to incorporate my students' cultures. My students and I sung the following songs: Away in a Manger, Jingle Bells, and Feliz Navidad.

Along with educating my students every Sunday morning, I provide them with opportunities to spend time with their peers outside of church. I strongly believe that it is important that students, who share a common faith, should have opportunities to develop relationships with one another because they are the future of the church. In order to make this possible, I host monthly devotionals, depending on if they earn 10 stars for having 10 productive class sessions. During these devotionals I organize different activities for my students to engage in. Some of the activities are related to the lessons they are learning on Sunday mornings and others are focused around themes like holidays and/or seasons.
Shortly after taking on my responsibility as a Bible Class teacher to my students, I immediately realized that they have yet to experience and explore so of the activities the wonderful activities the world has out there to offer then. Because of this, I make it my main priority to expose them to these new educationally enriching aspects of life like Vacation Bible Schools (VBS), acting, music, spiritual movies, games, art, baking, and cooking so they can leave my classroom with the ability to say that they learned immensely in a variety of creative ways!
